Project Worker
Full Time (35 hours per week)
The School Completion Programme was established in 2002 under the Department of Education Social Inclusion Model. Its aim is to increase the retention and participation of young people across primary and post primary school and in doing so improve the numbers that complete Senior Cycle or equivalent. We provide a range of evidence based, needs led and outcome focused interventions for children and young people in our cluster schools. North Fingal School Completion Programme has a cluster of six DEIS schools across Balbriggan, Skerries and Rush.
Project Worker Role:
The Project Worker will work in both Primary and Post Primary schools delivering a range of in school, after school, holiday time an out of school supports. They will work alongside the SCP Co-Ordinator, School Principals, Teachers, and other professionals.
Duties:
Will include: -
- Plan, organise and deliver one to one/group support to identified young people.
- To liaise with school personnel, external agencies and families/guardians as required.
- Build trusting relationships with the target students and their families.
- To maintain written records of work with students and produce written reports as required using SCP procedures (training provided).
- To assist in the planning, development and evaluation of SCP.
- To attend meetings and participate in staff training where relevant.
- Work collaboratively with Tusla Education Support Service ie: Home School Liaison Co-Ordinator’s, Education Welfare Officers, School Care Teams, School Principals, teachers and other school staff.
- Engage in relevant SCP CPD and external training opportunities.
- Undertake additional tasks as identified by the Coordinator.
Essential Requirements
To successful candidate will have:
- A recognised third level qualification in a relevant discipline (psychology, youth or community work, social care, education, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 1 years’ practical experience of working with children and young people at risk within a supportive environment.
- Experience of facilitating evidence-based programmes for children and young people.
- A good understanding of the Irish Education system, educational disadvantage and the issues that prevent children and young people from succeeding in school.
- Group facilitation experience.
- Understanding of Children First Guidelines.
- Excellent communication, planning, organisation, networking and report writing skills.
- Excellent teamwork skills and ability to work on own initiative but seek guidance as appropriate.
- Ability to manage competing demands in tight timescales.

Full, clean driving license and own transport.
Employment Type
Full-time contract, 35 hours per week.
Salary
The salary as per Dublin Dun Laoghaire ETB Youth Work salary scale (New entrant €37,385-€55,340). Starting salary will be consummate with qualifications and experience.
In accordance with the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016, e-vetting will be a requirement for the successful candidate.
