Introduction to NPC

National Parents Council (NPC) is the representative organisation for parents of children in early, primary and post-primary education. NPC was established as a charitable organisation in 1985, under the programme for Government, as the representative organisation for parents of children attending primary school and NPC's remit was extended to cover parents with children in early years in 2017 and in post-primary in 2022. NPC received statutory recognition in the Education Act 1998.

NPC exists to ensure that all parents are supported and empowered to become effective partners in their children’s education. NPC works to increase the capacity and capability of the education sector, to achieve true partnership and deliver better outcomes for all children.

NPC are looking to contract for service, independent Facilitators / Trainers in all regions of Ireland to deliver our wide range of programmes to parents. Programmes are currently being delivered online and in person in various locations, so travel may be required.

  • Applicants for these contracts must have a minimum of three years' experience facilitating / training with adult learners in the area of children and or families.
  • A Level 6 FETAC Training (Train the Trainer) or the equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the education system is also desirable. Our training programmes have a clear focus on parenting and full training will be given.
  • A full clean driver’s license is required.
  • Applicants must be prepared to travel.
  • We are particularly looking for trainers in the following counties:
    Cavan, Donegal, Galway, Kildare, Laois, Limerick, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Sligo, Tipperary and Wexford.

Current NPC training programmes cover a range of supports and information for parents of early years, primary and post primary school aged children, full training will be given to successful candidates. More details on our courses here.

Please note that there is no closing date for this campaign. However, the competition may close at short notice dependent on the volume of the applications. NPC advise that you submit your application for this position as soon as possible.

Interviews for those who are shortlisted will be held in the National Parents Council office.

Successful candidates will be required to attend two up-skilling weekends (Friday and Saturday) in November, dates to be confirmed.

There may be additional up-skilling dates added depending on what programmes you wish to deliver.
