About Teach Tearmainn

Established in 1999, Teach Tearmainn is the only specialised dedicated service working to address the issue of domestic violence and abuse in County Kildare, building a significant body of experience and expertise surrounding these issues over the years. Teach Tearmainn’s services are free of charge, confidential and based on an empowerment model, where support and information are provided to empower women to make their own decisions for themselves and their children.

Teach Tearmainn’s refuge was opened in 2014 and since then the service has grown and developed. The Refuge service is a core element of the work of the organisation. The Refuge provides emergency crisis care accommodation to women and children who are fleeing their homes as a result of domestic violence and abuse. Teach Tearmainn’s Refuge also provides safe home accommodation and support to women via telephone, which is also operated from the refuge, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

About the Role

Teach Tearmainn’s Refuge is a 24/7, 365-day service for women and children who are fleeing domestic violence and abuse. The Refuge service is responsible for providing refuge and safe home accommodation to women and children and is also tasked with the provision of helpline support to callers to our freephone number.

As the Refuge Service Coordinator, you will be a key member of the Teach Tearmainn Services Management Team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the refuge, safe home and helpline service, overseeing case management and line managing the Refuge and Helpline support team.

In addition to the above, the Refuge Coordinator will have responsibility for coordinating the on-call service (emergency response to the Refuge Team) and is required to be a member of the On Call Team. This means you will be on a roster to be on call outside of office hours two weeks out of every four weeks.

To succeed in this role, the post holder must have extensive previous experience of motivating staff as well as strong interpersonal and demonstrable management and coordination skills. The post holder must be passionate about providing the highest levels of support services to women and children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse. Additionally, he/she must have an excellent knowledge of domestic violence issues and experience of working in gender equality, a domestic violence service or another relevant setting.

Remuneration

€59,741 per annum. This includes the payment of On-Call Duty which forms part of the core contract. The breakdown is as follows:

€52,441per annum - core salary
€7300 per annum (approximately) for on-call duty
