Location: Tubbercurry Family and Childcare Resource Centre, Mountain Road, Tubbercurry, Co Sligo F91 YR25

Employment Type: Part-Time (14-17.5 hours per week), Fixed-Term (To 31/12/2025)

Salary: Grade (HSE) Equivalent [the salary will be pro rata]

Reports to: Project Coordinator of Tubbercurry FRC

Annual Leave: 25 days (pro rata)

Other details: Garda Vetting, and satisfactory references, will be sought prior to the successful candidate taking up the post.

Role Summary

The Child & Adolescent Counsellor/ Psychotherapist will work with children and young adolescents presenting with a range of psychological difficulties and complex life experiences, such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, types of abuse, grief, family breakdown, domestic violence, and trauma within a community context. The Child & Adolescent Counsellor/ Psychotherapist will work to support a child/ adolescent gain insight and understanding of their experiences, which will increase emotional resilience, and develop coping strategies while decreasing problematic behaviours and internalised conflicts. They will work closely with the child’s parents/carers throughout the therapy.

The Child & Adolescent Counsellor will provide the therapeutic and counselling service in Tubbercurry FRC and manage an agreed caseload.

They are responsible for clinical governance reporting directly to the Project Coordinator/ Board of Management of Tubbercurry FRC to ensure the safe and effective delivery of therapeutic services, while working in the best interest of the FRC.

They will also be fully integrated into the FRC holistic team and will be part of a wraparound support model offered by the FRC to the community.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure the delivery of safe, high quality therapeutic interventions and supports.
  • Overseeing of clinical policies and procedures in delivering a safe, high quality and effective community based clinical support service. This includes the development and monitoring of local clinical systems and processes from receipt of referral and initial assessment to delivery of evidence informed interventions and routine outcome measurements.
  • Manage waiting list and appropriate allocation of participants in consultation with Coordinator.
  • Manage and access participants readiness for therapeutic support while ensuring commitment to the limitations of the service.
  • Maintain an agreed clinical caseload.
  • Actively participate in a collective data collection/ outcome measurement/ evaluation and overall policy development of the new therapeutic enhanced supports.
  • Promote and maintain the vision and work of Tubbercurry FRC, FRC enhanced therapy supports and the FRC National Forum.
