Candle Community Trust welcomes applications for the position of Youth Worker. This is an exciting role working in our dynamic, vibrant, inclusive and trauma informed youth service. This is a full-time permanent post.

This youth work role involves the development and delivery of programmes and activities that aim to meet the needs of the young people aged 10-24 years of age. Candle Community Trust aims to work with young people from marginalised backgrounds who are at risk of social exclusion. It is important that the Youth Worker has the skill set and commitment to work with our target group and to support their personal/educational development. The service will be delivered in accordance with best practice and will provide a safe environment for young people.

  • Have worked with young people for two years’ full time in a youth work setting and have a degree level qualification within the Educational/Social Science/Youth Work or Community Work field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide opportunities which support Young People to improve their social and developmental outcomes.
  • To engage and build professional relationships with Young People
  • To plan, deliver and facilitate non-formal educational and personal development programmes.
  • To be flexible and attentive to the needs of Young People
  • To provide outreach and Detached Youth Work to ensure Young People from marginalized and disadvantaged communities have opportunities to engage with the service.
  • The Youth Worker will have shared responsibility for connecting young people and families into the service.
  • Good report writing skills and ability to maintain project records; provide updates and reports as requested and attend regular meetings.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with appropriate agencies.
  • To always ensure that the values and ethos of Candle Community Trust are respected and maintained.
  • To undertake other appropriate and relevant tasks as directed by the Director.
