Youth Work Ireland Galway seeks to employ an Integration Support Worker with the Ukrainian Integration Support Project.

Fixed term: October 2024 to December 2025

Located in Galway City, with outreach to county Galway (Tuam, Athenry)

Youth Work Ireland Galway is one of the leading youth work providers in Galway City and County providing a range of services and supports to young people, their families and communities over 5 decades.

The successful candidate will be based in the Ukrainian Integration Support Project’s office in Ballybane, with outreach to North Galway and will work with young people 10-24 years who have applied for Internal Protection, or who are benefiting from Temporary Protection, and their families in accordance with the organisational ethos and policies and in line with the current funding agreement.

Professional Qualifications and Experience

  • Education to Degree standard, preferably in Youth/Community Work (or relevant discipline as determined by the Employer).
  • A minimum of 1 year work experience in the youth sector
  • Ability to engage with the identified target groups
  • An understanding of Youth and Community Work

Person Specification

  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with young people
  • Good interpersonal skills including ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and external agencies
  • Ability to be proactive, use own initiative as well as working effectively within a team
  • Good written communication and report writing skills
  • Ability to follow organisational guidelines and processes
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of relevant online platforms for virtual delivery of programmes

Additional Considerations

The contract will be 21 hours per week from 1st October 2024 to 31st December 2025. Please note flexibility will be needed in relation to working times.

As the work involves contact with young people the successful applicant will be subject to Garda vetting.
