Volunteer Opportunity: Suicide Intervention Officer (SIO) 

Are you a compassionate listener who wants to make a real difference? SOSAD Ireland is seeking Volunteer Suicide Intervention Officers (SIOs) to join our volunteer team and provide vital support to those in crisis.

About the Role

As an SIO, you will:

  • Offer confidential, non-judgmental support to individuals in distress through our 24/7 Freephone Helpline.
  • Use active listening techniques and our four-step suicide intervention process to assist callers.
  • Work remotely via Microsoft Teams, ensuring accessibility across Ireland.

Who We’re Looking For

  • A minimum 3-month commitment, including availability for night shifts and weekends.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including clear and effective speech, to provide support over the phone.
  • The ability to actively listen, respond with empathy, and remain calm under pressure.
  • A stable internet connection to ensure seamless engagement with callers.
