Muscular Dystrophy Ireland (MDI) is seeking passionate individuals to join our volunteer team as
Community Connection Programme Volunteers
Closing date: 5th of July
Location: Remote
Hours: Flexible hours within 10am-4pm, Monday to Friday (minimum 2 hours per week)
About the Role:
MDI’s Community Connection Programme is a free, confidential, befriending and informative service for our service users who need social contact through a weekly telephone call. We want people to stay connected to avoid isolation and loneliness.
Volunteers on the Community Connection Programme will be required to make telephone calls from a list of service users who are either regularly engaged with MDI or those who have received support from us in the past.
Training and support will be provided throughout.
Main Duties:
- To be mindful of the general wellbeing of the person with a neuromuscular condition, provide support and encouragement when needed and to provide a friendly, listening, supportive experience during the call.
- To inform FSW if further assistance is needed from MDI services.
- To log calls using the online form provided.
- To attend training and adhere to the training guidelines.
- To attend peer review sessions as organised by the volunteer coordinator.
- To adhere to and respect the confidentiality of service user data.

Requirements and Skills
Required:
- Excellent administration, time management, and organisational skills
- Strong multitasking abilities
- Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail
Desirable:
- Previous volunteering experience
- Familiarity with MDI and it’s mission
