We are seeking passionate and committed individuals to join our Board of Directors and help shape the future of youth work in our community.

About the Role:

The Board of Directors plays a crucial role in the governance and strategic direction of Youth Work Ireland Laois. Board members provide leadership, oversight, and support to the organisation, ensuring its long-term sustainability and effectiveness. This is a voluntary position offering a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the lives of young people in Laois.

Responsibilities Include:

• Developing and overseeing the implementation of the organisation’s strategicplan.
• Ensuring sound financial management and accountability.
• Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of programs and services.
• Contributing to policy development and advocacy efforts.
• Representing the organization within the community.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
• Supporting the Chief Executive Officer and staff.

We are looking for individuals with:

• A passion for youth work and a commitment to empowering young people.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: governance, finance, legal, human resources, strategic planning, fundraising, or community development.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• A willingness to dedicate time and effort to the role (approximately 5 hours per month).
• An understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing young people in Laois.

Desirable Qualities:

• Experience working with young people or in the voluntary sector.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
• Connections within the Laois community.
