Are you interested in supporting the National Advocacy Service to achieve its strategic goals and develop advocacy services and activities which underpin the rights of people accessing health and social services?
The National Advocacy Service for People with Disabilities is a registered charity which provides independent advocacy to adults with disabilities. The National Advocacy Service for People with Disabilities also provides the Patient Advocacy Service which provides advocacy to those wishing to make a complaint about care received in a Public Acute Hospital, Nursing Home and in the aftermath of a Patient Safety Incident. The Board is seeking new external Board committee members to join the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee (including Governance) and the Human Resources Committee. These two committees support the Board of Trustees and the organisation. The committees are made up of committed and experienced volunteers from the voluntary, community, and public sector.
We are especially interested in receiving applications from those with lived experience of disability and/or as a user of healthcare services and/or patient/service user representative, and with experience relevant to either of the committees i.e. in HR or Finance in the public sector and/or charity sector which would support the remit of the Board.
Terms of Appointment
- External Committee members are appointed for a 3-year term and are eligible for one further 3-year term after that.
- The role is unpaid/voluntary, but reasonable expenses incurred whilst fulfilling the duties of the role will be reimbursed in line with the Department of Finance approved rates.
- Committee members meet at least 3 times a year currently via electronic means.
