Irish Cancer Society: Advocacy Volunteer
Title: Advocacy Volunteer
Tasks:
We are looking for volunteers that are passionate about ensuring that the voices of cancer patients, survivors, families and caregivers are heard at all levels of Government.
Please note the programme has limited numbers as we take on 3 volunteers per constituency. We are currently recruiting volunteers in all Constituency areas
Advocacy Volunteers commit to activities including:
- Writing to politicians and government departments
- Meeting with or calling your local politician
- Sharing our campaigns on social media or through your local media
- Participating in advocacy events (1 – 2 per year)
- Remote working
Advocacy Volunteers should be comfortable using technology, particularly email and social media, and have good communication and interpersonal skills.
Advocacy Volunteers are asked to devote 8-10 hours per month to campaigning work, as well as to attend 1 or 2 advocacy or training events per year.
You can do this advocacy work in your own time and at your own pace, so it helps to be organised and self-motivated.
You’ll receive direction from us on the actions that need to be taken and we will provide all the training, support and assistance that you need.
