Educate Together invites applications from candidates interested in joining a school board of management.

Educate Together is a modern, dynamic charity that is redefining standards in inclusive, learner-centred education. It is providing a long-overdue choice of equality-based primary and second-level schools for thousands of families in Ireland. It is working to transform the learning environment for all pupils so that they are properly prepared for life in the twenty-first century. Educate Together schools are state-funded, child-centred and democratically run and guarantee equality of access and esteem to students irrespective of their social, cultural or religious background.

Educate Together National Schools and Secondary Schools are managed by independent boards of management. Educate Together as patron directly nominates two members to each of these boards of management, and appoints one of those two nominees to the position of chairperson of the board. A small number of vacancies exist for patron nominees.

Applicants are particularly welcome from individuals who

• Demonstrate experience of chairing a board or a committee, and/or demonstrate leadership/management experience
• Exercise personal and professional integrity
• Demonstrate a commitment to the ethos of Educate Together
• Conduct board business with objectivity and a non-judgmental approach
• Have the capacity to think and act strategically
• Are willing to learn about and adhere to school administration and management processes and requirements
• Are available for 4 to 10 hours per month

Vacancies are available in Cork city, Co. Meath, Co. Dublin and Dublin city. This is a voluntary, unpaid role with a typical commitment of between 4 and 10 hours per month, varying from school to school. Training is provided. We are particularly interested in applications from people with board of management experience or Education Leadership experience.
