About Us:

Established in 1981 by a collective of foster carers and social workers with the shared aim of achieving a progressive, robust and equitable foster care system, the Irish Foster Care Association has evolved to be a cornerstone in the foster care ecosystem in Ireland. IFCA’s strength and effectiveness is couched in the ethos of the power of collective endeavour of the diverse members of the foster care community.

We are the national organisation that supports foster families and the wider fostering community by advancing and promoting best practice in foster care through support, learning, and advocacy. We believe in a society where the importance of fostering is recognised, valued, and supported.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Fundraising: Proven experience in developing and executing successful fundraising strategies and campaigns.
  • Corporate Partnerships: Expertise in creating and managing strategic partnerships with corporations to secure funding and resources.
  • Relationship Management: Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, private and sponsors, and community partners.
  • Stakeholder Management: Experience in engaging and collaborating with various stakeholders, including state and state supported bodies, private industry, philanthropic bodies, and NGOs.

Your Commitment:

  • You will regularly attend Board meetings, approximately ten per year – sharing your knowledge and skill. Board meetings and our AGM and are a mix of in-person and remote.
  • You will commit to active participation in board committees including initiating and accepting strategic assignments and will build effective relationships with other Board Members to ensure the successful operation of the Board.
