Speak Out: Theatre for Transformation is looking for improvisors /actors to join our team. 

Playback theater is an improvisational theater form that is done all over the world. Audience members tell their true stories and then the team members play the stories back instantly. Stories might be amusing, challenging, ordinary, or profound. Our aim is to create spaces where community can grow through shared personal stories that are held in an aesthetic space. To playback the stories we use a range of skills: improvised scenes; monologues; abstract movement; and pieces of cloth that become costumes and props and music.

Speak out Theatre for transformation is committed to having a diverse group of performers. We welcome people that are age 18+, LGBTQ+, all nationalities, ethnicities and all abilities to audition. At this point, we are specifically looking for male or non-binary actors to help us to have a more diverse representation.

You will need to have performance experience as an improvisor and/or actor. We will be training in the forms of Playback Theatre. It is an asset if you can sing or play a musical instrument.

REHEARSAL: Once per week in person in Cork City, On Monday nights from October-July

PERFORMANCES: Regular public performances in person ongoing in Cork City. Performances are usually every 6 weeks. (Please note: Members of the company are not required to perform in every show.)

PAY: A small stipend is paid to the performers after each performance based on a percentage of ticket sales (usually €15-€30).

AUDITIONS: Auditions will be held on Monday, September 23rd from 7:00-8:30 pm.
