Athy Community & Family Resource Centre
Our remit is to work with communities and families from all over Athy, urban and rural areas, to support and encourage active participation and to build strong families and communities. The primary focus of our work and the services we provide, is on early intervention aiming to promote and protect the health, wellbeing and rights of all individuals, children, young people and their families. We also aim to encourage and support the strengthening of communities and sense of belonging and ownership amongst the population of Athy, for all people, across the life span.
The building and its Board of Management have a long history of involvement in improving the lives of the local residents of Athy. This work has been ongoing since 1990 since a group of local people came together to form a committee to respond to the needs of the local community. Their work in the community has continued throughout the years. The Board of Management has continued to manage the provision of a community based facility to a number of providers including the HSE, Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, County Kildare Leader Partnership, as well as a number of local groups such as Athy Photographic Society, a Women’s Group and a Knitting Group.
We are open 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (evenings and weekends for prearranged group meetings)
