Fighting Blindness
Fighting Blindness is a charity which funds research into cures and treatments for blindness. It also provides a unique counselling service for families affected by eye conditions.
Finding cures for blindness will be one of the great human achievements of history and here in Ireland we’re at the forefront of the race. Most of the research funded by Fighting Blindness is at the cutting edge of science and cures for some conditions are in sight.
The work of Fighting Blindness brings hope to millions of people living with sight loss. Around 65,000 children and adults in Ireland have degenerative eye conditions.
Fighting Blindness research teams are looking into cures and treatments for blindness caused by inherited conditions and age-related condition. There are currently 12 projects in six centres around Ireland and one in the UK.
