South County Co-operative Housing Society Ltd
The society is a not-for-profit member/user housing co-operative, affiliated to the National Association of Building Co-operatives, with member/residents (families and single persons) in social rented housing estates and apartment buildings in Clondalkin, Lucan, Tallaght and Ballyogan. The Society also provides child-care services in its co-operative housing estates at Lucan and Brookview.
The rents paid by member/tenants are related to the housing management and maintenance costs and the household income circumstances of each member, rather than market rents, and are subject to assessment each year.
Members are drawn from the local authority waiting lists for social housing, according to due priority and for whom the co-operative dwellings available are a suitable accommodation solution having regard to type, size and location. Applicants must be willing to accept the responsibilities of co-operative membership, including the terms and conditions of the tenancy agreement. The number of vacancies occurring in co-operative dwellings is quite limited.
The members are represented on the management board of the Society, which is responsible for monitoring the estate management performance, finance and budgets, caretaking and maintenance services and conducts the business affairs.
