An Siol Community Development Project
Through an inclusive community development process An Siol aims to address the causes and consequences of social and economic exclusion.
Aims of An Siol:
- To act as a catalyst for and support the work of local residents in identifying and responding to issues of concern.
- To facilitate, with residents, the delivery of local services that enhance and make a material difference to the quality of their lives.
An Siol works according to the principles and practices of community development and acts as a resource to local residents and community organisations.
It works in co-operation with a wide range of organisations from both the community and statutory sectors. Our main activities include training, facilitation and general supports to local residents. We provide a meals service, social activities, mini bus and security services to senior citizens and are currently developing an outreach service with a view to identifying and contacting senior citizens who are most isolated in the community.
We run homework clubs in O' Devaney Gardens three afternoons a week as well as a tuition service for Junior and Leaving Certificate Students four nights a week. We also provide counselling and psycho-therapy services to the local community in Stoneybatter.
