Carlingford Heritage Centre
Carlingford Heritage Centre is the flagship of the Trust. The aim of the Heritage Centre is to give the visitor an insight into Carlingford’s history and to encourage a deeper exploration of the narrow streets and antiquities of this charming place.
Carlingford Heritage CLG is a company limited by guarantee registered in Ireland under Part 18 of the Companies Act, 2014.
Its main objects are to promote, foster and encourage in every practical way the environmental, cultural, social and economic development of an area of benefit comprising the town of Carlingford, County Louth and the areas of Counties Louth and Down which have a shoreline with Carlingford Lough and to preserve the medieval built heritage of Carlingford.
As objects ancillary and incidental to the attainment of the Main Objects, the company shall have the following Subsidiary Objects:
- to initiate the preservation, protection, development and improvement of features of historic, architectural, archaeological, environmental or public interest in the area of benefit;
- to educate the public in geography, history, natural history, culture and architecture of the area of benefit; and
- to promote high standards of planning and architecture in or affecting the area of benefit
