The Irish Palatine Association
The Irish Palatine Association was established in 1989 to encourage and develop a sense of identity among Irish Palatine families and their descendants throughout the world.
In 1709 several hundred families of German origin settled in Ireland. Known as the Palatines, they established roots mainly in the Counties Limerick, Kerry, Tipperary and Wexford.
The Association pursues its goal through the development of its exhibition, library and website in Rathkeale, Co. Limerick, Ireland. Collecting and preserving original documents, photographs and memorabilia relating to Palatine families and acting as trustees of such material for posterity.
The Association is a voluntary organisation and relies on a small committee for its existence. It is financed by small grants, donations, membership and a patron schemes. Visiting members have access to the library and exhibition during open times at our Centre.
