Compassion in World Farming (CIWF)
CIWF-Ireland started in 1992. It is part of the international CIWF group which was founded in England and now has offices in the UK, Holland and Ireland and a sister organisation in France.
CIWF campaigns solely for improvements in farm animal welfare. Specifically, we want to see an end to industrialised farming of animals and the live export trade stopped. We are also opposed to genetic engineering and cloning of farm animals. We believe that farm animals should be kept in ways that allow them to carry out their natural behaviours and that do not cause them suffering or pain.
We campaign by highlighting particular issues in the media, by giving public talks, by lobbying politicians, by holding events and demonstrations, and by meeting with any interested parties for discussion and sharing of views. We only campaign in a peaceful and legal manner and are totally opposed to any form of violence towards people, animals or property.
