CARI / Barnahus West: Therapist (Part Time)
At CARI our dedicated team help children and families every day.
CARI is a registered charity founded in 1989 and is currently the leading provider of professional, child centred therapy services to children, families and groups who have been affected by child sexual abuse. CARI’s therapy services provide therapy to children 18 and under who have been affected by sexual abuse and children aged 12 and under who present with sexually harmful behaviour.
Part time role, 3 days a week, 2-year specific purpose contract based in Galway with some travel and remote work.
Barnahus West and CARI have joined together to develop a new therapy pilot project.
Barnahus West is an interagency service making sure that children and young people receive the right help and support by coordinating and providing all the services under the one roof. Bringing together Tusla, the HSE, and An Garda Siochana. By responding in this way, the services can gather the best evidence, helping prevent any further trauma to the child by limiting the number of times they have to tell professionals what has happened to them and to provide the support to children to ensure better outcomes.
The therapy pilot project is an early intervention programme which aims to support both the child and their non-offending caregiver with early intervention support.
The role involves the provision of therapy to children and adolescents who may have experienced sexual abuse. The role also includes therapeutic interventions with parents or carers of the young person. Previous experience of working therapeutically with children is vital, as is an ability to work within a team environment.
Reporting directly to the Therapy Team Leader, to ensure quality in service delivery and consistency in approach. Individual supervision will be provided.

- Experience of providing therapy to children, teens, adults, and families.
