Cobh Youth Services are currently seeking a part-time Afterschool Assistant to join our team in Cobh, to work with children aged between 5 and 12 years.

Cobh Youth Services is a long established child and youth service with an excellent reputation.

Essential requirements:

• Full Award at Fetac Level 5 in Child care or equivalent
• A least 2 years work experience of working in the childcare sector
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Good communication and relating skills with children, parents and staff
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations regarding child protection
• Complete Garda vetting

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Supervisor/Manager for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/ or programmes
• Coordinate the implementation of activities suitable for this age group
• Maintain room, and equipment, to ensure the health and safety of children at all times
• Ensure a good standard of hygiene
• Attend meetings and undergo training as required
• Be aware of all policies and follow same
• Be aware of child protection procedures and advise manager should you have any concerns about a child
• Supervise homework activities.
• Accompany children from school
• Maintain strict confidentiality, any breach of confidentiality about children or their families will constitute gross misconduct
• Perform other reasonable and relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time
