St. Cronan’s Association CLG provides day supports to 150+ adults with intellectual disability through our centres in Roscrea, Birr, Templemore and Nenagh. We are recruiting a Senior Instructor to take responsibility for the day to day roll out of the new Kick Off! Programme based in Brickfields, Nenagh. The role will report directly to the Service Co-ordinator (RT and Transitions).
Kick Off! Is a new, transition programme for young adults with intellectual disabilities who are currently engaged with St Cronan’s and who have recently completed / almost completed their RT programme. The programme is a partnership between St. Cronan’s, the HSE, Tipperary ETB and Nenagh AFC. Kick Off! aims to improve/maintain the physical and emotional wellbeing of young adults living with intellectual disability, whilst supporting them to explore opportunities to volunteer, work and/or study in line with New Directions. The programme is located at Brickfields Soccer Club in Nenagh.
There is a strong focus on outcome measurement associated with this programme and the success will be measured by examining the participants achievement of PCP goals, engagement with the programme measured using the software tool Nourish!, maintenance / improvement in physical wellbeing indicators, completion of QQI modules and work placements.

Job Purpose
To lead the day to day running of the Kick Off! Programme. This includes facilitating the admission process, implementing the agreed documentation and ICT systems, ensuring delivery of the agreed timetable, managing assigned programme staff, taking responsibility for the facilities in which the programme is delivered, sourcing participant placements, speakers and facilitators and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all participants.
Terms and Conditions
This is a full-time role – 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. 12-month fixed term. Salary aligned to the HSE Senior Instructor Scale. Start date January 2025. 21 days annual leave + 2 flexi days, subject to 11 months’ probation. Company pension scheme. Free parking.
The successful candidate will be based in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.

The successful candidate will be required to possess the following:
Qualifications
Essential
- A degree (min Level 7) in Adult Education / Second Level Teaching / Special Needs Education / Psychology / Training / Social Care / Sport and Exercise.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Full clean driving licence.
Desirable
- A Train the Trainer Qualification or
- A qualification specific to supporting people with autism or
- A qualification in technology enhanced learning or
- A qualification in working positively with behaviours that challenge or
- A qualification in counselling/guidance or
- A management / supervision qualification
Experience
Essential
- Relevant experience working with people with intellectual disabilities in day service, rehabilitation or training setting, to include the delivery of training modules to people with varying needs and abilities.
Desirable
- Experience supervising people.
- Experience with budget management.
Skills
- Ability to create lesson plans from module descriptors.
- Ability to adapt quickly to the use of new technologies.
- Excellent organisational, communication and team working skills.
- A high capacity for responsibility, creativity and individual initiative.
Knowledge
- A clear knowledge and understanding of New Directions, the HSE PCP Framework, Assisted Decision Making and the EASI tool and associated standards.
- A clear understanding of Safeguarding processes and procedures and positive risk management.
- An understanding of QQI levels of training.
- An understanding that the person using services is responsible for directing his/her services; this is achieved in partnership with family members, the Services Manager or any other person designated by the Services Manager.
Attitude
- A positive attitude towards working with persons with an intellectual disability and those on the Autistic Spectrum is a pre-requisite, thus enabling them to have a positive fulfilling lifestyle.
- Proven ability to create a safe, welcoming and vibrant environment and ethos for participants
- An outgoing and friendly personality with strong empathy and communication skills.
- Each person with an Intellectual Disability/on the Autistic Spectrum must be treated as an individual, at all times acknowledging their personal dignity, according them their full rights and privileges.
