Purpose:
The EEU of An Taisce is the national operator of a number of highly successful environmental education and management programmes such as Green-Schools, Blue Flag, National Spring Clean, Clean Coasts and Green Home. The Green-Schools programme operates on a national basis and encourages a sustainable ethos in schools on a variety of environmental themes. Over 93% of Irish schools are participating in the programme.
The EEU of An Taisce is now recruiting 1 Full Time Global Citizenship Education Officer to work remotely. The role will involve delivery of Global Citizenship Education within areas of the Green-Schools programme. The post will be full-time for 2 years with potential for further extension subject to funding. There will be a probationary period of 6 months. The post will be 39 hours per week but a degree of flexibility of working hours around evenings and weekends will be expected. Start date 19th of November 2024
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Work with the Global Citizenship team to embed key themes and learning competencies throughout specific themes of Green-Schools programmes
- Lead on specific projects within the Global Citizenship themes.
- Develop and deliver teacher CPD with the overarching theme of Global Citizenship
- Assist with funding applications and end of year report writing.
- Assist Green-Schools Core team staff with workshops and events where necessary.
- Undertake any other such relevant duties as may from time to time arise and are considered appropriate.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience

3rd Level Qualification in Global Citizenship Education (GCE)/Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) or a minimum of two years’ experience in a field relating to one or both.
Knowledge, Skills & Aptitudes
- Knowledge of key issues relating to GCE/ESD
- Excellent administrative and analytical skills
- Ability to manage a workload within tight deadlines
- Ability to work with a wide range or stakeholders including schools, local authorities and other agencies.
